Romanian top executives earn an average of 117 900 euros per year, a salary package increase of 6-8% compared to a global increase of 3-4% in 2014, according to a study conducted by Pedersen & Partners.

By comparison, a top manager in Bulgaria earns 72 000 euros per year, a top manager in Serbia brings in 74 000 euros and a Hungarian CEO makes 123 000 euros.

According to the Pedersen & Partners study, top executives in Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and South Africa also earn less than their Romanian counterparts.

The main factors that influence a top manager’s annual remuneration package relate to the company size and its performance, with managers’ income being determined by the company’s net profit.

Speaking globally, the salary package of a director from a large multinational averages 1.4 million euros. This package consists of a base salary worth 681 000 euros and a short-term profit bonus of 719 000 euros.
