Vienna, Austria – Austria's largest HR event – the annual HR Inside Summit – was held for the third time at the Hofburg former imperial palace in Vienna. At the event, the second annual “HR Awards” were presented, honouring innovative HR ideas and projects in four categories: “Strategy, Leadership and Personnel Development,” “Tools & Services,” “Recruiting & Employer Branding,” and “Newcomer of the Year.” A special award is also presented to the “HR Person of the Year.”

The "HR Person of the Year 2017" title was awarded to Josef Buttinger, founder and president of the hr-lounge and Country Manager for Austria at Pedersen & Partners, for his valuable contributions to HR across the board. Mr. Buttinger has been a human resources manager for 15 years; prior to that, he spent a decade working for non-profit organisations where he gained extensive experience in the social field.

"As the founder and president of the hr-lounge, a network of more than 240 Human Resources Director/Manager members, Josef has a wealth of knowledge in the entire field of human resources, and is always at the cutting edge of developments in the labour market. Showing an extraordinary personal commitment, Josef Buttinger performs valuable work for the entire HR scene in Austria, and thus significantly increases the importance of human resources work," the award panel explained.
